The
Villanova Voices is the oldest women's organization within Villanova
University. Originally called the Villanova Women's Glee Club,
the group was founded shortly after Villanova became coeducational in 1960
by twenty ambitious women from the University's College of Nursing. These
talented young women now have a new name and a new image. Over fifty
Voices now join together from diverse fields of study, and share their common
love: music.
Becoming increasingly visible on and off campus, the Voices perform at several functions each year. They continue to sing at various Wildcat games, Special Olympics ceremonies, and at local charity events. They also warmly spread holiday cheer with senior citizens at several nursing homes and with the people of Philadelphia at the King of Prussia mall. The annual Winter and Spring concerts with the Villanova Singers, however, remain the highlight of each semester. Working together, the two groups have enjoyed the challenge of preparing many difficult pieces like Handel’s Messiah, Rutter’s Gloria, and Faure's Requiem. The Voices tour in the U.S. and abroad.
